What to expect at True Faith Community Church…
Visiting a new church can be nerve-wracking. Finding a new church home can be tough.
What can you expect as a visitor when you show up to join us for worship?
Most non-denominational churches describe themselves by saying something pithy like, "We're not your parents' church!" Usually that's code for contemporary worship, ultra-casual dress code, and sermons that resemble Ted Talks or pep rallies. It's understandable if that's what you think of when you think of non-denominational church. That is not what we are at True Faith Community Church.
We are most definitely not your parents' church. We are your great-great-grandparents' church.
Our worship is traditional. With reverence and awe, we worship the way Western Christians have worshiped for centuries, using the order of worship (liturgy) that has been handed down from generation to generation. Our worship is formed by Scripture, which makes up the majority of the words we say and sing in our divine service. Our tradition is formed by 2,000 years of Christian worship. We aren't looking to do anything new or novel. We are looking to be faithful to what we have received from the hands of millions of faithful, bible-believing Christians that have preceded us. We sing hymns. We celebrate the Lord's Supper weekly. We stand or kneel for prayer. No smoke machines. No video screens. No drum kits. If you have ever worshiped in a Lutheran, Anglican, or Catholic parish, you'll likely feel right at home. If you haven't, and you're looking for worship that is faithful to Scripture and rooted in tradition--worship that is deeper and more reverent than much of what is found in American Christianity--come worship with us.
Our beliefs are unchanging. We confess the core truths of the Christian faith weekly using either the Nicene or Apostles' Creeds. We dig deep in our Bible studies and sermons, using the Church Fathers and Reformers to guide our understanding of Scripture and keep us in step with what the Church has believed, taught, and understood through the ages. We aren't interested in chasing the idol of 'relevance' or looking for approval from a fallen culture. In fact, as we seek to be salt and light, we're striving to be faithful and useful to our Triune God above all else. As a congregation, we stand firm on the non-negotiables of the Christian faith as summarized in the Creeds while making room for multiple views on those non-essential doctrines where Christians have traditionally been content to allow differing understandings to exist side-by-side.
Our congregation is warm. Everyone was new in our parish at some point. We come from various Christian traditions--Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, and more--but are united in our faith and practice. More than that, we are united as we seek to live out our faith in our community. We rally around one another in bad times and celebrate with one another in good ones. We work hard together to serve our neighbors and play hard together to enjoy one another's company. We pray together and eat together. We are family, and we'd love to have you join us to worship, serve, and fellowship.
